Company I 26th Regiment Texas Cavalry

Madison Perry Dannelley was born November 16, 1841 in Arkansas to John Dannelley and Francis Caroline Holcomb.
Madison Perry Dannelley enlisted in Company I, 26th Texas Cavalry on March 26, 1862, in Polk County, Texas. The 26th Texas Cavalry was organized in early 1862, the first commander of the regiment was Xavier Debray. The 26th Texas Cavalry was often times referred to as the The Menagerie. The 26th Texas Cavalry was part of the Trans-Mississippi Theater. Debray's regiment was considered to be one of the finest in the Confederate States Army.
Following the Civil War, he worked as a farmer. Madison Perry Dannelley married Susan Johanna Capers on September 15, 1871 in Polk County, Texas. They had nine children. He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on April 6, 1920 and died on July 19, 1925.
