When Herbert Elton Sitz was born on April 19, 1903, in Bedford, Tennessee, his father, William, was 40 and his mother, Sarah, was 38. He married Mary Gilley Puckett on October 5, 1924. They had four children during their marriage. He died on April 5, 1981, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 77.
