When Ernest Willie Emmett was born on May 22, 1901, in Green Forest, Arkansas, his father, Perry, was 22 and his mother, Martha, was 17. He married Mattie Lou Mason on May 30, 1923, in Wilbarger, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on April 18, 1984, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 82, and was buried there.
