When Lela Neal was born on September 7, 1912, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, her father, John, was 29 and her mother, Bertha, was 25. She married John Luther "Ted" Hobbs on November 12, 1932, in Brewster County, Texas. She had four children by the time she was 29. She died on July 17, 2006, in Bowie, Texas, at the age of 93, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.

When John Luther "Ted" Hobbs was born on June 12, 1911, in Haywood County, Tennessee, his father, Luther, was 34 and his mother, Bessie, was 28. He married Lela Neal on November 12, 1932, in Brewster County, Texas. They had four children during their marriage. He died on August 20, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 44, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
