When Lonnie Ashley Goodman was born on September 28, 1891, in Lamasco, Texas, his father, Thomas, was 26 and his mother, Mary, was 19. He married Lora Mae Hembree on January 23, 1920. They had two children during their marriage. He died on May 18, 1960, in Wilbarger, Texas, at the age of 68, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
