When William Franklin 'Frank' Key was born on October 19, 1911, in Vernon, Texas, his father, William, was 39 and his mother, Ida, was 38. He married Gladys Halie Best on November 9, 1929, in Frederick, Oklahoma. They had six children during their marriage. He died on March 25, 1985, in Baylor, Texas, at the age of 73, and was buried in his hometown.
