Margaret Hazel Johnston Barnett, age 91, longtime Vernon resident, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Amarillo following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Prince of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park in Vernon.
Mrs. Barnett was born in OBrien, Texas, a daughter of the late W. D. and Melissa Josephine Barnard Johnston. She married Bacyl W. Barnett in February 1926 in Knox City. They moved to Vernon in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1957.
She taught piano in Vernon for many years and was a member of the Vernon Musicians Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church and played piano for various Sunday school departments for a number of years.
Survivors include three daughters, Jo Helen Stanfield of Baton Rouge, La., Marjorie Logsdon of Amarillo and Jane Barton of Athens, Texas; a sister, Edna Lee Hove of Altus, Okla.; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 10 brothers, one sister and by her only grandson, Michael Logsdon, in 1977.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 4, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Barton, Jim Parker, Steve Compton, Robb Dulaski, Alex Hochstein and Kurt Griffin
