When Mary Jane Abston was born on August 6, 1882, in Willow Grove, Tennessee, her father, Lipscomb, was 44, and her mother, Juliet, was 34. She married Ashford Kindle Edens on March 15, 1905, in Clay, Tennessee. They had four children in 13 years. She died on June 27, 1961, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 78, and was buried there.
