Scholar and true gentleman passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 2, 2014. Mr. Englert was born on January 21, 1928 in Peekskill, New York to Franz and Carolina Englert. He graduated from Fordham University in 1950. Mr. Englert received a Doctorate of Law from Fordham University in 1954 and was admitted to the New York State Bar Association. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Reserve. As an attorney, he specialized in Fidelity Surety. He worked in the legal department of the Ocean Insurance and Home Insurance Companies. Mr. Englert joined the American International Group in 1968 and served as vice president of the Fidelity Surety Department from 1970 until his retirement in 1995. He was highly respected and valued for his expertise in the specialized field.

Mr. and Mrs. Englert were married in 1951 and resided in New Hyde Park, New York for forty years. Mr. Englert was an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He served as attorney for the New Hyde Park Library and was a member of the New Hyde Park School Board and the Sewanaka High School Board for over twenty years. Mr. Englert received numerous awards for his service to church and community. Mr. and Mrs. Englert relocated to Colleyville, Texas in 1999.

Mr. Englert enjoyed music and played the piano, accordion and drums. He enjoyed traveling and cruising on his yacht, The Happy Wanderer. Mr. Englert enjoyed sports and was a lover of the outdoors. He was happiest when enjoying the company of his family.

Mr. Englert led an active life and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Englert is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Evelyn Hoer Englert and his daughters, Regina Erazo and Cecilia Mesler, grandson Alex Erazo,son-in-law, Terry Mesler and other family members including sister, Mary Ann Flynn, cousin, Maria Harris and niece and nephew, Diane Sanders and Jim Flynn.
