Funeral services for J. W. Allen, 84, of Lubbock, formerly of Seminole, will be conducted Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the M. S. Doss Community Chapel in Seminole with Dr. Mark Riley officiating with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.

J.W. was born March 9, 1931, in Gaines County to Dewey and Emily Allen. He served in the United States Army. J. W. married Dorene Briggs on April 28, 1952 in Lovington, New Mexico. He was a member of the Southcrest Baptist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason. J. W. had been employed in the oilfield, Seminole ISD as maintenance supervisor, City of Seminole as building inspector, served two terms as a Gaines County Commissioner and for Enterprise Car Rental. J.W. was preceded in death by a sister and five brothers.

J.W. is survived by:
His wife Dorene Allen of Lubbock;
Two sons Don Allen and his wife Kathy of Lubbock, Gregg Allen and his wife Sharon of Weatherford;
One sister Jeannie Betke of San Antonio;
Five grandsons, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice. Family and friends visitation with be held Sunday, October 25th from 3:00-5:00 P.M. in the Ratliff Funeral Home in Seminole.
