Funeral services for Rev. Cornelius “Neal” Thiessen, 53, of Seminole will be conducted Friday, April 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.. in the Mennonite Evangelical Church, with the Rev. Glen Plett officiating, assisted by Rev. Ramiro Anaya and Rev. Dick Unrau. Interment will follow in the Gaines County Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. Neal passed away Monday, March 28 in Seminole.
Neal was born June 4, 1962 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Abram and Susana Thiessen. Neal and Lena Reimer were married June 4, 1983 in Chihuahua, Mexico. Neal served as a Deacon for the Mennonite Evangelical Church from 1988 to 1996 at which time he became a minister for the church, in 1998 he was elected as their lead pastor. Neal established a sister church in Paraguary in 2001 and also a church in Copeland, Kansas, Neal also pastored the church in Tigertown from 2009-2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Neal is survived by his wife Lena Thiessen of Seminole; two daughters Wanda Giesbrecht and her husband Juan, Carissa Teichroeb and her husband Jacob all of Seminole; one sister Susana Hiebert of Mexico; four brothers Enrique Thiessen of Manitoba, Canada, Bernardo Thiessen of Ontario, Canada, John Thiessen of Chihuahua, Mexico and Abe Thiessen of Manitoba, Canada; along with three grandchildren Jayton Giesbrecht, Indie Teichroeb and Samantha Giesbrecht and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be streamed live @ mecseminole.org.
