Funeral services for Richard Banman, age 63 of Seminole, Texas will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with Pastor Henry Martens officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mr. Banman was born March 17, 1953 in Mexico to Susanna (Redekop) and Diedrich Banman. He married Mary Redekop in Canada on July 15, 1973. His childhood was spent in Mexico until the age of fifteen, when he moved to Canada. He lived there eight years before moving to Seminole, where he had been a resident for 39 years. He was a member of Sommerfeld Mennonite Church and worked as a farmer. The last four years he worked with upholstery. He was a strong believer of Jesus Christ and was a very honest man with a big heart. He had a good sense of humor and known as a jokester; you always knew where you stood with him. He loved music, fishing and the challenge of fixing unique things.
Richard Banman passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, Texas.
He is preceded in death by parents, ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Mary Banman of Seminole, Texas; three sons, Peter Banman and wife Lena of Seminole, Texas, Jakey Banman and wife Eva of Seminole, Texas, and Ricky Banman and wife Tina of Canyon, Texas; six daughters, Nancy Harms and husband Abe of Seminole, Texas, Agatha Redekop and husband Jake of Amarillo, Texas, Lena Peters and husband Tobias of Seminole, Texas, Lisa Wieler and Cornelius of Seminole, Texas, Anna Dyke and husband John of Seminole, Texas, and Susie Unger and husband John of Canyon, Texas; one brother, John Banman and wife Agatha of Canada; four sisters, Tina Wolfe and husband Peter of Mexico, Sara Fehr and husband George of Seminole, Texas, Aganetha Wieler of Canada, and Mary Loewen and husband John of Seminole, Texas; 29 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
