Obituary for William Clayton Boone:
Graveside services for William Clayton "Bill" Boone, age 86 of Odessa, Texas will be held Monday, December 28. 2015 at Gaines County Cemetery (south) at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. LyAnna Johnson officiating; burial will follow. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mr. Boone was born February 16, 1929 in Mertzon, Texas to Margaret Cooper (Mackey) and Clyde Campbell Boone. He married Bertha Elizabeth LeBlanc on April 18, 1958 in Ballenger, Texas; she preceded him in death in 2009. His grandfather, Jeremiah Boone, was one of the first settlers in Lea County, New Mexico, and in the early 1900s his father and uncles had a wild west show called The Boone Boys. They performed shows all over the United States. Mr. Boone worked in outdoor advertising, but was also a craftsman of spurs and knives. His passion for knife and spur making came from his uncles and is still a family tradition. He made spurs for both President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush, Texas Governor Rick Perry, and many other senators and legislators. He was a Baptist, a member of Lions Club, and a 32nd degree Mason. He was also an avid supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Texas Lions Camp for Children.
Bill Boone passed away December 21, 2015 in Odessa, Texas. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is also preceded in death by three grandchildren, William Taylor Horton, Candy Boone, and Derek Lee Johnson; and by one great-grandson, Colton Johnson.
Mr. Boone is survived by one son, William (Bill) Boone and wife Mae of Cooper, Texas; seven daughters, Kathy Mann of Granite Shoals, Texas, Connie Johnson and husband Larry of Odessa, Texas, Donna Johnson and husband David of Seminole, Texas, Valerie Ann Hickson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Diana Schneider and husband Roger of Sulphur, Louisiana, Rhonda Hebbe and husband Ricky of Fentress, Texas, and Roberta Lankford of Luling, Texas; one brother, Douglas Clyde Boone and wife Susan of Plano, Texas; one sister, Faye Miller of Moscow, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
