Notation: Claron Windus is the only known recipient of the Medal of Honor who killed another Medal Of Honor Recipient in the line of duty. On New Years Day 1877, Windus, now a deputy sheriff in Kinney County shot and killed Adam Paine who had crossed over into the outlaw life.
