When Clarence Leroy Shearer was born on August 29, 1893, in Little Rock, Arkansas, his father, Samuel, was 34 and his mother, Susan, was 23. He married Nina Lee Bostick on May 18, 1919, in Erath, Texas. They had one child during their marriage. He died on October 13, 1964, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 71, and was buried there.
