When Ruben Neal Slappey was born on August 26, 1907, in Acme, Texas, his father, S., was 25 and his mother, Lila, was 20. He married Jewel Faye Slappey in 1927. They had two children during their marriage. He died on January 16, 1958, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 50.
