When Lee Whitman was born on July 2, 1879, in Texas, her father, Henry, was 32, and her mother, Mary, was 27. She married Alice Dee Hammonds on March 12, 1907. They had five children in 15 years. She died on June 8, 1955, in Thalia, Texas, at the age of 75, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
