Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Chapman. Interment will be at Wilbarger Memorial Park. Under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.



Billy was born May 30, 1941 in Falls County,Texas. He was the son of the late Ben Downes and the late Eva Fleming Downes. He marrried Ana Mote on June 03, 1961 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He had lived all of his life in Vernon, Texas. He worked for Earl Bristo Auto Parts for many years as Manager of Parts Warehouse and at Merchant Freight Lines. He was a member of Church of Christ.



He is survived by his wife Anna Downes of the home. Three sisters, Melba James of Vernon, Texas, Eva Keck of Slaton Texas, and Bessie James of Dublin, Texas.



Preceded in death by four brothers Bennie, Jack Hernon and Raymond Neal Downes; and one sister Minnie Bishop.



Visitation will be Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Sulivan Funeral Home.



Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life or Vernon Meals on Wheels.



Pallbearers will be Herbert Downes, Bennie Keck Tom Jablonski, Colton Keck, Bill Miller and Gerald Downes.

When William Wayne Downes was born on May 30, 1941, in Lott, Texas, his father, Benjamin, was 50 and his mother, Eva, was 44. He married Anna Sue Mote on June 3, 1961, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He died on June 26, 2011, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 70, and was buried there.
