A Home Wedding

A home wedding Sunday morning at 10 o'clock June 26, 1927 at the palatial home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. McClaren, with Rev. W. O. Wright, Baptist pastor of Caldwell, performing the beautiful ring ceremony, united in marriage. Miss Viola McClaren, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. McClaren, and Mr. Thomas Benton Roberts of Taylor with only immediate relatives and very close friends present.
Throughout the reception suite beautiful pink roses, crepe myrtle and ferns made the appropriate setting, and heralding the wedding hour, Miss Helen Newton of Thorndale, a Baylor school mate of the bride, sang in her sweet, charming manner, the beautiful selection, "O, Promise Me."
At the piano playing the accompaniment, the wedding march and soft melodies during the ceremony was Miss Annie Claire Springfield of Buffalo, Texas.
The bride who entered with her sister, Mrs. A. E. Pyeatt, (formerly Miss Gladys McClaren), of Memphis, wore a pink georgette ensemble suit with gold trimming, and the becoming picture hat framing her lovely face, was of pink.
A colonial shower of pink Kilarney rosebuds, tulle tied in pink, completed a charming costume. Mrs. Pyeatt was attractive in a monkey skin georgette gown and becoming pink hat.
The improvised altar was made of fern and pink rosebuds.
The groom was attended by Henry Weghorst of Taylor.
A reception immediately followed the wedding and best wishes were expressed to Mr. and Mrs. Roberts. Refreshments of pink brick cream and angel food squares was served to the guests. The beautiful wedding gifts were displayed in the living room
The bride is a very capable young lady, possesses a winsome personality and has many friends who wish for her a future of happiness.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts left immediately for Fort Worth, Dallas, Oklahoma City and other points, where they will spend several days and upon return will make their home in Taylor, where the groom is a member of the Heggie - Roberts firm.
