When Charlie Franklin Bynum was born on May 6, 1906, in Pittsburg, Texas, his father, Samuel, was 22 and his mother, Edna, was 20. He married Ruby Violet Moore (1914–1980) and they had one son together. He also had one son with Nellie Lue Hodge. He died on August 20, 1996, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 90.
