Funeral mass for Elva "Lela" Guerrero, age 84, of Seminole will be celebrated Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10 AM at St James Catholic Church with Father Paul Karieakatt officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Rosary will be held at St. James Catholic Church Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 7 to 8 PM. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Guerrero was born May 26, 1934 in Rio Grande City to Raquel (Reyna) and Alejandro Guerra. She married Rene Guerrero, Sr. in Rio Grande City April 28, 1956. She was Catholic and cooked for Gomez Restaurant for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed Mexico Bingo and scratch-offs. Elva loved her dog, Lilly, and especially loved and cherished her grandchildren.
Elva Guerro passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, at Seminole Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband Rene Guerrero, Sr, in 1990, one brother, and one sister.
She is survived by four sons, Rene Guerrero, Jr. and wife Patricia of Seminole, Reynaldo Guerrero and wife Sarah of Seminole, Roberto Guerrero and wife Dana of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Romeo Guerrero of Seminole; one daughter Idolina Bazan and husband Jorge of Port Mansfield; two brothers, Alejandro Guerra and wife Delia of Rio Grande City; Alberto Guerra and wife Anita of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Delia Hernandez and husband Ventura of Rio Grande City, Emma Escobar and husband Jorge of San Antonio; fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
