Graveside services for Maurine King, 103, will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gaines County Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Johnson officiating. Services will be under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. She passed away Friday, May 3 in Seminole.

Maurine was born July 27, 1915 in Jayton to Brace and Lou Lafon. Maurine and Owen King were married January 8, 1932 in Jayton and together they raised four children. She was a homemaker and a great cook and excellent housekeeper. She made the very best cinnamon rolls, peach cobbler and fried chicken. Maurine also worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Seminole Senior Citizens, and United Grocery Workers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Owen King, Sr., two daughters Bracie and Melva King, one son Owen King, Jr., two sisters Chris Brandon and Bracie Dell Johnson, and two granddaughters Linda and Marcella Driver.

Maurine is survived by one daughter Rhoda King of Lubbock; along with eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Donations would be greatly appreciated in honor of Maurine King to the Seminole Memorial Health Care Center, 212 N.W. 10th Street, Seminole, Texas 79360.
