Graveside services for Shirley Margaret Strickland, 97, of Seminole were held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gaines County Cemetery with Rev. Richard Wheat officiating. Services were under the direction of Ratlif Funeral Home of Seminole. She passed away Wednesday, November 6 in Denver City.

Shirley was born February 23, 1922 in Memphis to James Mason and Nora E. Young Brown. She graduated from Childress High School in 1940. Shirley and Jessie A. Strickland were married March 22, 1941 in Seminole. She was a member of South Seminole Baptist Church and was a Charter Member of the Seminole Eastern Star for 70 years. Shirley and Jessie were owners of Triple R Tire Store in Seminole for many years where she was bookkeeper/secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jessie A. Strickland, her son Ray Mason Strickland, a brother Sergeant David Brown, two sisters Mildred Smith and Mary Jo Cayton.

Shirley is survived by two sons Ross Strickland of Hobbs, NM and Ricky Strickland and wife Helen of Seminole; a sister Claranell Murray of Abilene; along with three grandsons Shaine Strickland of Odessa, Jason Strickland of Seneca, South Carolina and Dustin Strickland of Seminole.
