When William Bryan Townsend was born on May 14, 1896, in Lena, Mississippi, his father, William, was 33 and his mother, Mattie, was 25. He had four children with Una Ailleene (Dorsey) Townsend. He died on August 23, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 70, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
