Funeral Mass for Maria Garcia, age 84, of Seminole was celebrated Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Paul Karieakatt officiating. Rosary was Sunday, June 18, 2017, from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church. All services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Garcia was born May 15, 1933 in Mexico to Antonia (Gomez) and Bernardo Lupian. She married Joe Luis Garcia, Sr. July 29, 1968 in Hale Center. She was a Catholic and a homemaker. Maria enjoyed cooking, crocheting, telling stories about her childhood and taking care of her roses. She was a very stern woman; but always very loving. She loved her family dearly.

Maria Garcia passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at her home in Seminole. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Luis Garcia in 2007; two brothers, one sister, and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by four sons: Joe Garcia, Jr. and wife Juanita of Seminole, Jesus Garcia and girlfriend Judy Phillips of Lubbock, Jorge Garcia and wife Norma of Hale Center, Rene Garcia and wife Sophia of Seminole; two daughters: Maria Socorro Castillo and boyfriend Derrick Daniels of San Antonio, Leticia Tapia and husband Ricky of Seminole; three brothers: Raul Lupian of Mexico, Rafeal Lupian of Mexico; two sisters: Eva Gomez of Mexico, Romona Lupian of Mexico; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
