Memorial services for Vernon Henning, 80, of Seminole was held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlie Johnson officiating. Services will be under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
Vernon was born December 17, 1936 in Bowie to Harvey Ellis and Marion Wilcox Henning. He graduated from Bowie High School and joined the United States Marines and was discharged as a Corporal in March 1956 and received the National Defense Service Medal. Vernon and LaJuana Burgett were married November 22, 1956 in Weatherford and have lived in Gaines County since 1981. He had been employed by Gaines County Farm Supply and Anderson Grain since 1974 until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Marian French.
Vernon is survived by his wife, LaJuana Henning of Seminole; two sons, David Henning and his wife, Jan, of Seagraves and Paul Henning and his wife, Nancy, of Plano; one brother, Harvey Henning of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Cory Henning, Kaci Henning, and Collin Henning.
