Mrs. Streit 2010-01-19 / DeathsBillie Morrison Streit, 82, of Vernon died Jan. 8, 2010, in Vernon.
Funeral services were Jan. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in the Lockett community southwest of Vernon with the Rev. Kenneth Bersche officiating.
Burial followed at Wilbarger Memorial Park.
Mrs. Streit was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Margaret, the daughter of Grant and Ola Black Morrison.
She married Karl Streit on Aug. 6, 1947, in Borger, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2006.
A resident of the Lockett community and Vernon most of her life, Mrs. Streit was a homemaker and she worked with her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed baking, gardening and bridge.
She was a member of the Lockett Extension Club, 4-H and Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Streit of Vernon, Kelly Kyle and husband, Rick, of Fredericksburg and Karen Love and husband, David, of Lampasas; one son, Kent Streit and wife, Christine, of Nassau Bay; a sister, Rae Black of Fort Collins, Colo.; five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Vernon.

VERNON - Karl Alex Streit, 87, of Vernon died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Vernon.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth Bersche officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mr. Streit served in the Army Counter Intelligence and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Billie of the home; three daughters, Karen Love of Lampasas, Texas, Kelly Kyle of Fredericksburg, Texas, Kim Streit of Vernon; a son, Kent Streit of Houston; two sisters, Lillian Schoppa and Lydia Gipson both of Wichita Falls; three granddaughters; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.

When Karl A Streit was born on January 2, 1919, in Vernon, Texas, his father, Frederick, was 22 and his mother, Martha, was 22. He married on August 6, 1947, in Borger, Texas. He had four children during his marriage. He died on December 8, 2006, in his hometown at the age of 87.
