When Paul Gerhard Graf was born on May 6, 1899, in Warda, Texas, his father, Ernst, was 24 and his mother, Maria, was 22. He married Mary Elizabeth Obenhaus on January 23, 1925, in Vernon, Texas. They had five children during their marriage. He died on February 19, 1986, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 86, and was buried there.
