Charles E. Belew was born in Kemper County, Mississippi. In 1884, he moved to Texas where he was converted in 1885 and entered the ministry in 1909. He was a devoted father and husband. Always faithful to his calling, he was beloved by all.

Rev. Belew was married in 1896 to Miss Josephine Nichols. Two children were born to this union and she died in 1901. Belew married a second time in 1906 to Miss Amanda Elizabeth Holly. The couple had six children; Amanda passed away in 1933. In 1934, Belew was married to Blanche Billups who survived him, along with seven children and five step-children.
