When Robert Walter Bachman was born on November 16, 1918, in Vernon, Texas, his father, Otto, was 21 and his mother, Lydia, was 16. He married Dessie Dell Pinner on July 7, 1946, in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He died on January 28, 2007, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 88, and was buried in Wilbarger, Texas.
