Funeral services for Nora Jewell Holmes, age 86 of Seminole, Texas, will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Tony Pitcox officiating. Burial will follow in Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

Mrs. Holmes was born November 10, 1929 to Bessie (Bridges) and Raymond Stanley in Dime Box, Texas. She was married to Jim Holmes on June 7, 1946 in Seminole; he preceded her in death in 1998.

Jewell worked for Bell Telephone as a telephone operator. She was a member of First Baptist Church and she loved her church. Jewell enjoyed playing canasta and bingo at the Health Care Center, and she didn't learn to swim until she was 62 years old.

Jewell Holmes passed away April 15, 2016 at Memorial Health Care Center in Seminole. In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Michelle Banman in 2008; one great-grandson, Riley Hensley in 2008; and one granddaughter-in-law, Echo Allen in 2007. She is survived by three daughters. Jana Hensley of Odessa, Texas, Judy Allen of Seminole, Texas, and Jeri Lynch and husband Mark of Denton, Texas; six grandchildren, Blake Hensley, Heather Awbrey, Amber Wiebe, Shannon Allen, Tabatha Carter, and Chloe Lynch; and 16 great-grandchildren
