Gene Powell was born March 2, 1923 in Austin, Texas and passed away May 1, 2006 in Austin, Texas at the age of 83 years.

Gene served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He started a successful printing business in 1955 and was considered a Master Printer. Gene was a proud and loyal member of the Austin Saengerrunde for 35 years. He also enjoyed staying active in all kinds of sports, especially playing Moon at the Manchaca Fire Hall on Friday nights.

Gene will be truly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Jo of Austin, Texas; son, Bobby Powell and wife Debbie of Austin, Texas; daughter, Paula Sautter of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Kris Rawls and husband David of Houston, Texas, Daniel Powell of Austin, Texas, and Steven Powell of Austin, Texas; great grandaughter, Lindsey Rawls of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funerals services were Thursday, May 4, 2006 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Interment followed at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas.
