Funeral Mass for Cruz Gomez Villalva, age 77 of Seminole, Texas will be celebrated Friday, July 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Paul Karieakatt officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Rosary will be held at St. James Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Villalva was born May 3, 1939 in Alpine, Texas to Ladislada (Gomez) and Francisco Villalva. He married Sulema Dominguez on May 1, 1960 in Seminole. He was a member and choir member of St. James Catholic Church and worked as a custodian for Seminole Independent School District. Cruz was a strong family man who never met a stranger. He stayed active within the Seminole community and was a player and coach for the Seminole Indios baseball team. He also was a fourth degree charter member of Knights of Columbus of Seminole, Texas. Cruz enjoyed music and dancing in his spare time.

Cruz Gomez Villalva passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Sulema Villalva of Seminole, Texas; three sons, Albert Villalva and wife Jo Ann of Athens, Texas, Danny Villalva and wife Lorena of Mesquite, Texas, and Tim Villalva of Seminole, Texas; two daughters, Jo Ann Isbell and husband Wes of Seminole, Texas and Judy Gonzales and husband Joe of Lamesa, Texas; two brothers, Louis Villalva and wife Carolyn of Edison, New Jersey and Julio Villalva and wife Ramona of Seminole, Texas; one sister, Gabriela Rodriguez of Hobbs, New Mexico; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
