Funeral services for Ray Garrett, age 85 of Seminole, Texas will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Brant O'Connor officiating and Sean Decker assisting. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Family will greet visitors at Boyer Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mr. Garrett was born March 26, 1930 in Lamesa, Texas to Nora Belle (Childers) and Carl Garrett. He married Regina Waldrop in Seminole on June 22, 1964. He was a Baptist and had served as the Commissioner for Gaines County Precinct 3 for fourteen years. He also served on the Seminole Independent School District Board for many years, and on the ASCS Board. He was a thirty-second degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, water and snow skiing, and was known for pulling pranks on people - he was the life of any party. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Ray Garrett passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at his home in Seminole. He is preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons, one granddaughter, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Regina Garrett of Seminole, Texas; five daughters, Ann Morris and husband Roy of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Debbie Rulestead and husband Edward of Andrews, Texas, Sharla Jeter and husband Clay of Seminole, Texas, Brenda Anderson and husband Harold of Lamesa, Texas, and Cindy Schneider and husband David of Sugar Land, Texas; one sister, Doris Morris of Lubbock, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
