Funeral services for Pat Childress, age 86 of Denver City and formerly of Seminole, Texas, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Westside Church of Christ in Seminole, with Brother Skip Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
Pat was born June 9, 1933 in Wellman, Texas to Naomi (Baker) and Rupert Caffey. She retired from Seminole ISD after working in the cafeteria for 15 years. She loved to cook and enjoyed being a housewife. She was most recently a member of Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland, Texas where she moved from Seminole. She married George Childress on January 14, 1995 in Seminole; he passed away in 2008. Pat was a best friend to many, and dearly loved her family, friends, and church family. Her family regarded her as the best Christian lady and a sincere sweetheart, in addition to being the best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother ever.
Pat Childress passed away at her residence on Saturday, December 7, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2008; one son, Ron Hillis; and three brothers, Melvin, Leonard, and Mitchell Caffey. She is survived by three sons, Don Hillis and wife Carolyn of Granbury, Texas, George Childress, Jr. and wife Una of Levelland, Texas, and Ken Hillis of Hobbs, New Mexico; three daughters, Paula Reeves and husband Rick of Denver City, Texas, Pam Evans and husband Richard of Lubbock, Texas, and Cheryl Clark and husband Gordon of Dumas, Texas; one brother, Leland Caffey and wife Paula of Lubbock, Texas; one sister, Barbara Roberts of Lubbock, Texas; and 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
