When James T. Shivers was born on February 8, 1901, in Van Zandt, Texas, his father, Frederick, was 36 and his mother, Tempie, was 29. He married Pebble Eleanor McGehee on December 22, 1934, in Wilbarger, Texas. He died on December 22, 1992, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 91, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
