When Durey Lawrence Betts was born on November 21, 1892, in Brookshire, Texas, his father, Durey, was 32 and his mother, Ruth, was 25. He married Lilly E Betts on April 14, 1924, in Carter, Oklahoma. They had one child during their marriage. He died on November 15, 1958, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 65, and was buried there.
