When Hubert Henry Grantham was born on April 6, 1912, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, his father, Columbus, was 32 and his mother, Willie, was 28. He married Rebecca Fitzgerald on July 1, 1944, in Hopkins, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on November 14, 1981, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 69, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
