When Estel Lee Bailey and his twin brother Emmet Schley were born on October 8, 1897, in Oklahoma, their father, David, was 37, and their mother, Nancy, was 28. He had three daughters with Madeline Beatrice Carrow. He then married Hampton Westcott (1931–2011) and they had two children together. He died on June 29, 1977, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 79, and was buried there.
