H. H. HURLHEY, 79 year old pioneer of Lipscomb county, were held in the high school auditorium in Lipscomb Wednesday afternoon, September 25. Burial was made in the Lipscomb cemetery. He had been ill for sometime.
Mr. HURLHEY was the father of Georgia HURLHEY chief operator of the local Southwestern Telephone Co.

Obituary
Henry H. HURLHEY was born July 8, 1861, at Warwaw, Ill., and departed this life on September 23, 1940, at the age of 79 years, two months and 15 days.
In 1861 he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie McGINLEY of Warsaw, Ill., and to this union was born two children, Pearl May Elizabeth and Earnest. The son preceeding the mother in death.
In 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Grace MARTIN at Warsaw. To this union 15 children were born, 9 preceding their father in death.
Death again interrupted this happy union on August 24,1931, when the mother passed away.
Mr. HURLHEY moved to Lipscomb with his family in 1908 and established a machinery and blacksmithing business which he maintained until his death. He was a kind neighbor and affectionate father and was known and loved by all. He leaves on the pages of time, the memory of always being a helper of others, a man who was most happy in life when doing for his fellowmen and children.
Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Pearl GLISAN, DeRidder, La.; Mrs. Ruby LONG, Borger; Georgia HURLHEY, Perryton; Mrs. Liona STEVENS, Hollister, California; Carl R. HURLHEY, Pescadero, Calif.; Rosemary HURLHEY, Esparto, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Elizabeth LEVINGS, Pekin, Ill.; Mrs. Tillie NEWBY, Pekin, Ill.; one brother, L. W. HURLHEY, Keokuk, Iowa; a host of other relatives and relatives and friends.
