Columbus Grantham was born on December 6, 1879, in Texas, the son of Martha and John. He married Willie Lou Fowler in 1901 in Hopkins, Texas. They had six children in 18 years. He died on October 10, 1953, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 73, and was buried there.
