When Albert C Gettys was born on November 27, 1886, in Shelby, North Carolina, his father, Martin, was 35 and his mother, Mary, was 28. He was 31 years old and living in Matagorda, Texas, when he registered for the World War I draft. He died on March 27, 1959, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 72.
