When Richard Claude Jones was born on January 6, 1919, in Argyle, Texas, his father, James, was 44 and his mother, Tennie, was 37. He married Sylvia Lee Tinsley on May 24, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas. He died on March 23, 1981, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 62, and was buried there.
