When Ethel Dora Hanners was born on March 16, 1902, in Ashland, Alabama, her father, Benjamin, was 26, and her mother, Olivia, was 25. She had two sons and six daughters with Otha T. Black. She then married Cecil Arthur Sollis on July 13, 1942, in Frederick, Oklahoma. She died on July 25, 1961, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 59, and was buried there.
