When Benjamin Franklin Smithson was born on November 8, 1897, in Runnels, Texas, his father, William, was 37 and his mother, Nora, was 26. He married Vera Elizabeth Hogg (Smithson) in March 1930. He died on August 30, 1959, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 61, and was buried there.
