Funeral Mass for Refugio Garcia, Jr. will be celebrated Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Jose De Dios Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Rosary will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Garcia was born in Mexico October 29, 1935 to Manuela (Lara) and Refugio Garcia, Sr. He married Maria De La Luz in Mexico on March 20, 1956. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a farmer. Refugio loved horses and was a horse jockey; he also enjoyed dancing and was a very funny man.

Refugio Garcia, Jr. passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at Deering Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Odessa, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maria Garcia, in 2005; one son, Jorge Garcia; one brother, five sisters, and one grandson. He is survived by two sons, Samuel Garcia and wife Juana, and Refugio Garcia III and wife Reyna, both of Seminole, Texas; seven daughters, Gracia Garcia and husband Ramiro Orozco of Mexico, Ramona Garcia of Seminole, Elida Garcia of Andrews, Texas, Adelina Florez and husband Daniel of Seminole, Elizabeth Garcia and husband Roberto Tellez of Odessa, Texas, Socorro Contreras and husband Refugio of Seminole, Texas, and Judy Mendoza of Seminole, Texas; one brother, Abel Garcia and wife Aurora of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one sister, Alba Sanchez of Las Cruces, New Mexico; 36 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
