When Elizabeth Jane Whitten was born on June 17, 1922, in West, Texas, her father, Robert, was 34, and her mother, Ruth, was 29. She married Charles Ernest Earthman on December 19, 1939. They had three children during their marriage. She died on July 25, 2009, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 87, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
