When Hershel Alvis McCarty was born on March 17, 1912, in Parker, Texas, his father, Thomas, was 32 and his mother, Emma, was 28. He had two children with Lucy Mazelle Duckworth. He died on August 8, 1999, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 87, and was buried there.
