When Milton Henry Richie was born on October 2, 1927, in Vernon, Texas, his father, Elijah, was 41 and his mother, Omega, was 37. He married Norma Jene "Coon" Edwards and they had three children together. He then married Mary Jo Hollars on July 28, 1973, in Vernon, Texas. He died on June 28, 2003, in his hometown at the age of 75.
