When Jessie Edgar Atwood was born on December 30, 1900, in Liberty, Kentucky, his father, Nathan, was 36 and his mother, Nancy, was 35. He married Mary Susan Miranda Newton on April 26, 1923, in Texas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on July 9, 1980, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 79.
